RADIO REVENUE CONTINUES DECLINE

(Aug. 8, 2001) -- Radio advertising revenue continued its decline, with an 8% drop in combined national and local sales in June vs. the same month last year. For the second quarter, combined revenue fell 8%, and total sales are for the year are also off 8%.

June's downtick is slightly better than the previous three months, which saw drops of 9% in May, 9% in April and 10% in March.

For the quarter, local radio revenue fell 4%, and national dollars were down 21%, compared with the same period last year. -- Cara Beardi
