RADIO REVENUE DOWN FOR FIFTH-STRAIGHT MONTH

(July 3, 2001) -- As expected, radio advertising revenue fell again in May, marking a year plagued by five consecutive months of sales decreases.

Combined local and national revenues decreased 9% for the month, with national dropping 22% and local dipping 5%, according to the Radio Advertising Bureau.

Year-to-date, total revenues are off 8% from last year, with national down 21% and local down 4%, compared with the same five months in 2000. -- Cara Beardi
