New York Web agency Razorfish signed a strategic alliance with Avalanche Systems. Razorfish, part of Omnicom Group's Communicade network, has taken a substantial shareholder stake in Avalanche.

Michael Block, Avalanche CEO, is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Jeff Dachis, CEO of Razorfish, will become Avalanche CEO. Peter Seidler will continue as Avalanche chief creative officer. Troy Tyler, formerly the director of operations at Avalanche, will be executive VP and chief operating officer at Avalanche.

Avalanche has been rumored to be looking for financial backing for several months.
