'Real Simple' founding editor exits

Susan Wyland, founding managing editor of Real Simple, New York, has resigned, Time Inc. Editor in Chief Norman Pearlstine announced on May 17. Real Simple,with a circulation of 400,000, was launched last month by Time Inc.'s People Magazine Group. Carrie Tuhy, formerly assistant managing editor at In Style, becomes acting managing editor of Real Simple. Isolde Motley, recently named Time Inc.'s corporate editor, will oversee the magazine. The changes are effective immediately. "Susan Wyland brought us a brilliant concept. We admire what she has done in developing it, and we're grateful for her considerable efforts,'' Mr. Pearlstine said in a release. "The underlying concept of the magazine has been validated, and we're enthusiastic and committed to continuing to produce an exceptional publication.'' Ms. Motley was named corporate editor earlier this month, from her former post of managing editor at Life.
