Philip Darnton, group director of global marketing, is one of several board-level executives leaving Reckitt & Colman, London, following its proposed merger with Benckiser. Reckitt Acting CEO Michael Turrell and Finance Director Stephen Wilson also are leaving as the merged Reckitt Benckiser restructures along Benckiser U.S. management lines. Benckiser CEO Bart Becht is to head the new management team, while Reckitt Chairman Alan Dalby assumes the role of group chairman. Reckitt didn't say whether Mr. Darnton would be replaced or whether McCann-Erickson Worldwide's hold on the Reckitt & Colman global account is in jeopardy. It's expected a Benckiser executive will take a global marketing role. Reckitt Benckiser plans to streamline brands around five core category groups: dishwashing, fabric care, health and personal care, homecare, and surface care.
