Record for NCAA women's title game

Published on .

ESPN said the March 28 Purdue vs. Duke NCAA Women's Basketball Championship telecast attracted a 4.3 rating, a record for a women's basketball game on the cable sports network and the second-highest rating for any college basketball game, men's or women's, carried by ESPN. The 4.3 rating was a 16% gain over last year's NCAA women's championship basketball game. The previous record audience for an NCAA women's title telecast was a 4.0 in 1997. For its 14-game 1998-99 women's NCAA basketball series, the average rating for ESPN was a 1.33, up 22% from the previous season.
