Reed exec to retire

Anglo-Dutch Media giant Reed Elsevier said co-chairman Ian Irvine will retire from all executive duties when he turns 60 on July 2 and will be replaced by 49 year-old Nigel Stapleton, chief financial officer. Mr. Irvine will continue as chairman of the Reed International wing of the company until April 1997 when he will also relinquish that title to Mr. Stapleton.
