As President of Time Inc. New Media, Ms. Conneally oversees Time Warner's Pathfinder site (www.pathfinder.com), Time Inc. magazines' online entities, joint ventures like Thrive and custom publishing work. She is responsible for centralizing a once-varied business model into a single and profitable P&L statement.
The mother of two, she's in the process of adopting another child from China. She's also climbed up the corporate ladder, being with Time's new media unit in ad sales since Pathfinder's launch in '94. And while the site brought in an estimated $4 million in revenue in 1996, the charge is to double revenue in 1997 while keeping costs flat.
To this end, Time Warner consolidated 100 online staff from various magazine and media brands into Ms. Conneally's division. Time Inc. New Media can now negotiate deals and partnerships as a unified voice.
This year Ms. Conneally expects her unit's revenues to come from advertising, syndication, commerce, subscription/niche content products and title development.
"In January we had two line items for revenue on our P&L: advertising and `other,' " She said. "Now there are five streams we're developing."
Betcha didn't know: Ms. Conneally wanted to be a pilot when she was a child.
