Times Mirror Magazines said it was restructuring its executive ranks. Jason Klein has been dispatched from headquarters to become the senior VP in charge of Outdoor Life and Field & Stream. He was most recently director of strategy for the professional information group in Los Angeles. Senior VP George Bell loses responsibilities for those titles but has instead been handed responsibility for skiing, which includes Ski and Sking. Exec VP Patricia Campbell retains responsibilities for Popular Science and also takes over Home Mechanix, which had been headed by senior VP James Kopper. Mr. Kopper has been assigned to the Times Mirror Magazine Network. The changes came amid a new round of rumors that some of the magazines would be sold off or merged. Company officials denied any such plans.

In a memo distributed to senior management today, Times Mirror Magazines CEO Skip Zimbalist said the realignment was "part of our focus on strengthening [the company's] core businesses and achieving maximum profitability."
