True North Communications' Bozell Sawyer Miller Group, New York, announced a name change, strong 1997 revenue and a merger with TN-owned Temerlin McClain Public Relations in Texas. The new name for Bozell Sawyer Miller Group is BSMG Worldwide. The company's Bozell Public Relations unit was renamed BSMG Marketing Communications. BSMG Worldwide said 1997 revenues reached $71 million, a 50% increase over 1996. On a continuing operations basis, BSMG revenues grew 27%. During 1997, BSMG acquired Charles Barker p1c (now Charles Barker BSMG), with offices in London and Brussels, and expanded its presence in southern California, Hong Kong and Beijing. Under the merger with Temerlin McClain Public Relations, which BSMG said is the largest public relations agency in Texas, the Temerlin office will operate under the name BSMG Worldwide/Southwest. BSMG also named Andy Polansky president of BSMG Marketing Communications/New York, to the BSMG Worldwide board.
