Mr. Wheaton is the first executive to join the agency since an initial public offering. Co-Chairman-CEO George Lois said one goal of taking his agency public was to be able to hire additional management talent.

James M. McAllister, 79, former chairman of Parade and a 40-year publishing industry veteran, died Jan. 13 at his Sedona, Ariz., home of prostate cancer.
