National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Lexington, Ky., said actor Rip Torn will be the spokesman in its 1999 campaign, scheduled to break in late December and early January in various markets via Merkley Newman Harty, New York. Production begins Nov. 9 on eight new TV spots featuring Mr. Torn. NTRA is expected to spend $25 million to $30 million in 1999. Radio and print executions will support the TV ads. "Go baby go" remains the ad tagline.
