Roxy.com acquires assets of wireless e-tailer

Published on .

Consumer electronics e-tailer Roxy.com acquired the key assets of Boston-based Globile.com, an online wireless products retailer and resource guide. The deal, of which financial terms were not released, gives Roxy.com all rights to Globile.com's registered, opt-in customer and e-mail databases, as well as proprietary interactive search-engine applications. The customer data and online tools will be used by Roxy's Everything Wireless division to bolster marketing efforts for its personal communications product line. All of Globile.com's Web traffic, averaging 120,000 unique visitors per month, will be channeled automatically to the www.everythingwireless.com site. However, the Globile.com Web site will remain operational, and will continue to be marketed. Roxy.com's major investors include Federated Department Stores, NBC Internet and Valuevision International.
