(May 3, 2001) -- After laying off 3,000 workers, Newell-Rubbermaid of Freeport, Ill., has shifted its $10 million Rubbermaid advertising account from Omnicom Group's Martin-Williams, Minneapolis, to Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York, the agencies confirmed. Newell-Rubbermaid's first quarter net sales were $1.61 billion, down 1.1% from $1.63 billion reported in the year earlier period. -- Kate MacArthur
