Saatchi execs to swap roles

Published on .

Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, New York, said Alan Bishop, CEO-North America, and Jennifer Laing, chairman-United Kingdom, will swap roles. The agency wants to broaden the experience of two of the agency's top candidates to someday succeed Chairman-CEO Ed Wax.

In January '96, Saatchi hired McCann-Erickson executive John Fitzgerald as president-chief operating officer and signaled that he was next in line for the top job. But Mr. Fitzgerald clashed with senior execs at the agency, including Mr. Bishop and Ms. Laing, and departed after only seven months. He has not been replaced.
