Worldwide CEO Kevin Roberts Adds Title of Chairman

SAN FRANCISCO (AdAge.com) -- Publicis Groupe's Saatchi & Saatchi today announced the overhaul of some of its key U.S. management positions in New York and Los Angeles.

Kevin Roberts, Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide CEO and Publicis Groupe's brand navigator for Procter & Gamble Co., adds the title of chairman and will take a more prominent role in the New York office.

Joining Mr. Roberts in New York will be Scott Gilbert a 23-year Saatchi veteran who ran Saatchi's biggest office, the 300-person Torrance, Calif., shop that handles Toyota Motor Sales USA's Toyota division. Mr. Gilbert, 49, will oversee the New York office's operations. He becomes one of four managing partners of that office, down from six. Mike Burns, Tom Lom and Tod Seisser remain as managing partners; three former managing partners have been assigned other duties.

office, several key players on the Toyota account were shifted. They include the relocation of Marianne Bess, formerly national group account director, to Sydney, Australia, where she becomes general manager of Saatchi & Saatchi's Toyota account. She will be replaced in Torrance by Tim Murphy, formerly director of retail divison. Mike Slagter, formerly regional development director, is promoted to retail division director and will head the Toyota Dealers Association field team.

Saatchi has lost some ground with Toyota Motor Sales USA in recent years. Last year, the automaker split the assignment for its Scion youth-oriented line to Oasis and Attik, San Francisco. The African-American account for its Toyota brand from Saatchi to Burrell Communications Group in 2001. Also that year, the marketer turned to Dentu's Oasis Adverting, New York, to develop a TV spot for its 2002 model Prius hybrid-engine car because it preferred the creative; the agency handles Toyota Motor North America's corporate account.
