Saatchi tapped to handle Gateway Asia-Pacific ads

Gateway, San Diego, tapped M&C Saatchi to handle its estimated $15 million advertising account for the Asia-Pacific region. Incumbent Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide participated in the pitch for the direct marketer of PCs. Gateway recently fired McCann and is believed to be close to signing Publicis' Fallon, Minneapolis and New York. Gateway's Asia-Pacific media business will be handled by Carat Asia-Pacific, Saatchi's media arm.
