Salt Lake City captures 2002 Winter Games

The International Olympic Committee named Salt Lake City as the host of the 2002 Winter Games, beating out competitors Ostersund, Sweden; Sion, Switzerland; and Quebec City. The Evans Group, a local creative group, handled the city's bid campaign. The agency to handle $25 million in marketing for the seven years preceding the Games has not been named.

Leser hands over Aussie duties
Bernard Leser, chairman-Asia-Pacific and Australia divisions for Conde Nast Publications, will relinquish his responsibilities for the publishing company's Australian division. He will continue to chair the Asia Pacific division. Didier Guerin, president-Asia Pacific, will add the title of managing director of the Australian company.
