SCHERING PUTS $50 MILLION MEDIA HEALTH-CARE BIZ INTO REVIEW

Published on .

(May 18, 2001) -- Schering-Plough is hunting for an agency to handle media buying and planning for its health-care products including over-the-counter drugs, foot-care and sun-care products with estimated billings of $50 million.

True North Communications' TN Media handles national broadcast buying; the remainder of the work is handled in-house.

Several shops have received requests for proposals. Zenith Media, New York, is the media buying and planning agency of record for Schering's prescription drugs, including top-selling anti-allergins Claritin and Nasonex. Zenith was awarded the $200 million account without a review in March.

The review is being conducted by Alvin Achenbaum & Partners, Dallas.
