WASHINGTON (AdAge.com) -- Strongman- and actor-turned-gubernatorial candidate Arnold Schwarzenegger has released
Arnold Schwarzenegger's new TV spot kicks off the advertising war in the California recall election campaign.
his first TV commercial, a 60-second spot that airs on California stations and cable this week.

$2 million budget
Mr. Schwarzenegger's campaign has budgeted $1 million to $2 million for placements of the spot that is the first from candidates in the California recall election.

"I am running for governor to lead a movement for change and give California back its future," Mr. Schwarzenegger says in the ad, created by media consultant Don Sipple. The ads tagline is "Let's bring California back."

Oct. 7
The recall election is slated for Oct. 7, a date that appeared firmer after a federal judge today rejected a request from the American Civil Liberties Union that the election be delayed until next year, when new, more accurate electronic voting machines would replace punch-card ballots in several California counties.
