'Scientific American' starts new title

Scientific American, New York, said it will launch Explorations, a new science and technology magazine aimed at children and their parents, on October 1. The new magazine will encourage parents to use everyday situations to bring science into the lives of their children, and will also help answer questions frequently asked by kids. Scientific American Publishing Director Kate Dobson will oversee the new title, which will be published quarterly with an initial rate base of 200,000.
