LOS ANGELES (AdAge.com) -- The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California declared Focus Media in involuntary bankruptcy, ending Focus' battle to contest the move.

Separately, Sears, Roebuck & Co. filed suit in California Superior Court on Aug. 27 against former Focus executives Tom Rublin, founder and chairman, and Tom Sullivan, chief financial officer, for at least $23 million.

In March 2001, Sears fired and then sued Focus for money it had given to Focus to buy local ad time. Focus then countersued.
