Mr. Selby joined Sears in 1997 as VP-marketing services and became senior VP-retail marketing in January 1999. Mr. Selby came to the retailer from Leo Burnett, Chicago, where he was senior VP and account director on McDonald's USA. In his new position, Mr. Selby will report directly to Alan J. Lacy, Sears' chairman and CEO, and will oversee Sears' marketing budget, which totaled $1.505 billion in 1999, according to Advertising Age data. Sears currently uses two advertising agencies, WPP Group's Ogilvy & Mather and Y&R Advertising, out of their Chicago and New York offices.
