Senate tobacco vote delay likely

Chances dimmed for a Senate vote on tobacco-control legislation before the Friday start of Congress' weeklong Memorial Day recess. A lengthy debate on tobacco taxes Wednesday was to be followed by a string of other issues related to the bill advanced by Senate Commerce Committee Chairman John McCain (R., Ariz.). Sen. McCain said he still hopes for a vote this week and declined to say how a delay would affect the legislation.
