Seniors are surfing to sweepstakes

Published on .

Aging baby boomers are turning to the Web for e-mail, e-commerce and online sweepstakes, according to Greenfield Online's Surfing Seniors Digital Consumer study. Greenfield found from a survey of 3,000 seniors aged 55 and older that 90% participate in cyber sweepstakes and contests. Nearly 30% of those that enter contests or sweepstakes said they'd enter them for prizes as little as $5 to $10. Seniors most often shopped for computer software (56%), books (54%) and CDs/music (42%).
