The SETI Institute, Mountain View, Calif., hoping to make contact with life on earth, hired Elliott/Dickens, San Jose, Calif., as its first agency. SETI, which stands for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, is a private non-profit research group that seeks to discover evidence of life in outer space. It is turning to advertising to help in its search for donors. Elliott/Dickens initially will do market research that should lead to Internet, print and possibly TV advertising, said Greg Klerkx, director of development. Budget is to be determined.
