Shepard's deal done

Times Mirror Co. and Amsterdam-based Reed Elsevier announced today the completion of their joint venture to own Shepard's, the U.S. legal citation service. Times Mirror earlier acquired Shepard's from McGraw-Hill and said last July Shepard's would be part of a 50/50 partnership with Reed Elsevier.The partnership is expected to lead to a broader strategic alliance between Matthew Bender, Times Mirror's legal publisher, and Lexis-Nexis, the Reed Elsevier online information service.
