Shockwave.com discounts rich-media ads

Published on .

Macromedia's Shockwave.com is selling rich-media ads on the site at 10% below the price of non-rich ads in an effort to promote rich advertising--such as audio, video and animation--on the entertainment site. The program is open to all tested forms of rich media, including Macromedia's Flash and Shockwave as well as others such as Enliven, Java, Thinking Media and RealNetworks' Real audio and video. VP-sales and Commerce David Steinberger said discounts are off the shockwave.com rate card, which, he stressed, is "a real rate card, not some bogus, $60 CPM rate card that wastes media planners' valuable time and is a useless tool."
