Shopper company formed

The largest shopper publisher in the Northeast, Newport Media, has been formed with the purchase of four New York/Philadelphia metro area shopper publications. With a circulation of more than 1.6 million and worth over $60 million in revenue, the new publishing company combines Long Island's Yankee Trader and Results Media; the Marketeer/Pennysaver of Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, and parts of Queens; and the Shopper's Guide in the New Jersey suburbs outside Philadelphia. Newport Media was formed by Aurora Capital Partners and Harry Buckel, former president of Harte-Hanks Shoppers and past chairman of the Advertising Mail Marketing Association.
