Short resigns as Schwab ad chief

Len Short resigned Aug. 23 as exec VP-advertising and brand management at broker Charles Schwab & Co., San Francisco, effective at yearend. Schwab appointed former Y&R Advertising executive Jack Calhoun as senior VP-brand management and advertising to succeed Mr. Short, effective Sept. 25. Mr. Calhoun, formerly general manager of Y&R, San Francisco, will report to Susanne Lyons, exec VP-chief marketing officer. A spokesman for Schwab the company said Mr. Short, who had been on a leave of absence since early summer, resigned to "explore different opportunities beyond Schwab" after his return from his leave. Schwab's statement said Mr. Short will assist with the transition and work on other special inititives until yearend.
