'SI,' cruise line set joint promos

Norwegian Cruise Line, Miami, and Time Inc.'s Sports Illustrated formed a marketing partnership to create cruise-oriented promotional events. Included will be a Sports Illustrated Afloat themed cruise, scheduled to sail Dec. 5 and feature sports celebrities. Also included will be an NCL advertising campaign in the magazine, a line of co-branded merchandise, creation of the Sports Illustrated Cafe aboard the SS Norway, database sharing, ship-board auctions of SI memorabilia and special travel agent incentive programs. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Y&R Advertising, Chicago, handles NCL.
