(Aug. 27, 2001) -- Simon Worldwide, Los Angeles, said Ron Burkle, its largest shareholder, and an associate, Erika Paulson, resigned from its board in the wake of Simon's terminated relationship with McDonald's Corp.

Mr. Burkle is managing partner of Yucaipa Cos., which with affiliates owns 22.9% of Simon. Ms. Paulson is a Yucaipa partner. Mr. Burkle controls 70% of Golden State Foods, a McDonald's supplier of which Ms. Paulson is a director.

Simon, which made the announcement late Aug. 24, said the two resigned because of a potential conflict of interest. -- Brad Johnson
