Simpson trial a boon for cable networks

Published on .

The dramatic resolution to the O.J. Simpson trial and its incredible aftermath has contributed to an exponential ratings surge for the primary cable networks covering the event. For the first three-weeks of the 1995-96 TV season, prime-time ratings for Court TV have skyrocketed 900% to a 1 Nielsen rating compared with a 0.1 rating the same period last year. Ratings for CNN have doubled to a 2.2 for the same period.
