Software publishers set guidelines for online distribution

A group of leading software publishers on Monday released a set of guidelines to help publishers better manage online distribution. The group, including Borland, Broderbund, Microsoft, Netscape, Novell and Silicon Graphics, spent several months carefully examining the increasing consumer demand for online products. The guidelines will establish industry-wide standards for the protection of the customer and the software publisher in online transactions..
