SonicNet plans int'l ventures, eyes TV

Published on .

Hip music site SonicNet is banging the drum for its brand name.

Just four months after being acquired by Paradigm Music Entertainment, SonicNet has set an aggressive expansion plan including international editions in Japan and Australia, a syndicated daily music news service for major Web sites, a TV network for the college market and a music news wire service for radio stations.

SonicNet by June 1 will launch SonicNet Japan, created in Japanese congi characters by staffer Toshio Karamata. The site is a partnership with Digital Garage, Tokyo. SonicNet also is expected to launch in Australia through a partnership with a telecom company, possibly Telstra.
