Sony aims for No. 1

Carl Yankowski, president of Sony Electronics, told Advertising Age at the Comdex show in Las Vegas that his goal is to make Sony No. 1 or No. 2 in personal computers. Sony will be introducing a home computer next fall as part of a broad technology alliance with Intel Corp. Sony has failed in its three previous attempts to crack the computer market, and observers say Sony will face a difficult time despite its prized brand name.
