(April 30, 2001) -- Sony Pictures Entertainment is close to reupping its media agency, Interpublic Group of Cos.' Universal McCann, to continue handling its $250 million account. Though a final decision has yet to make it official, media executives say it is doubtful Sony would switch agencies so close to the start of the upfront. Bcom3's Starcom, Chicago, was a late entry into the Sony sweepstakes -- which slowed down the decision process. WPP Group's the Media Edge and Zenith Media, New York, co-owned by Publicis Groupe and Cordiant Communications Group, are also in the review.
