Sony promotes Stringer

Sony Corp., Tokyo, named Howard Stringer chairman-CEO at Sony Corp. of America, solidifying his control over Sony entertainment. Mr. Stringer, a former CBS Broadcast Group president, also remains president of Sony Corp. of America and chairman of Sony Electronics; Sony Corp. Chairman Norio Ohga gives up the title of chairman of Sony Corp. of America. Two other Sony executives took new titles: John Calley to chairman-CEO, Sony Pictures Entertainment, from president-CEO, taking the chairman's title from Mr. Stringer; and Thomas D. Mottola to chairman-CEO, Sony Music Entertainment, from president-CEO, taking the chairman's title from Mr. Ohga.
