Southland earnings higher

Southland Corp., Dallas, on Thursday reported a pre-tax earnings increase of 38% for 1995 due in part to operating improvement in its 7-Eleven chain. Net earnings rose 66% over 1984 to $270.8 million. Same-store merchandise sales increased 1.9%. This year Southland said it will complete an extensive remodeling project for 7-Eleven stores and focus on new store growth.
