Spielvogel joins broadcast board

Carl Spielvogel, former chairman of Bates Worldwide, has been appointed by President Bill Clinton to become a member of the new Broadcasting Board of Governors of the U.S. Information Agency. Mr. Spielvogel, who left Bates to become chairman of the United Auto Group, the fourth largest automobile dealership company in the U.S., will be responsible for policy and budgetary oversight for all international broadcasting services of the U.S. government, including Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio and Television Marti, Worldnet Television and the planned Radio Free Asia.
