SPIVAK SPLITTING FOR JWT

By Published on .

One month after being named worldwide creative director-multinational accounts at Ammirati Puris Lintas, Helayne Spivak has left to join J. Walter Thompson Co. as chief creative officer-North America and worldwide creative director.

Ms. Spivak, 44, will report to JWT Worldwide Co-President Chris Jones and will oversee creative for the worldwide agency's North America clients and selected global clients.

SOME AMERICAN DUTIES

"It was attractive to have some American responsibilities as well," said Ms. Spivak of her decision to leave New York-based Ammirati for JWT. "There's a bit of a base here [at JWT] with North America as well as the worldwide responsibilities."

Ms. Spivak added that working with former Young & Rubicam colleague Susan Gianinno, JWT's New York exec VP-general manager, also influenced her decision.

Ms. Spivak said she feels comfortable with JWT's client list, having worked with many of JWT's clients in the past, including Eastman Kodak Co., Kraft Foods and Unilever.

Other agencies claim to have been queried about their interest in Ms. Spivak, who had been in serious discussions with JWT about a position for at least the last month.
