of best unsigned band

UnVailed '97, the second annual national search for the best unsigned band in the U.S. sponsored by Sam Goody/Musicland, wants to tap sponsors for its local, regional and national competition and promotion. The final shoot-out is March 27 to 29 in Vail, Colo., with thousands of spectators expected and national TV coverage. Cost: $95,000 to $280,000. The Nature Museum, Chicago, seeks sponsors for its $17 million facility to be completed in 1998. FunTime America, Aberdeen, N.J., is inviting sponsors into its indoor amusement park, videogame arcade and educational Science Center drawing 500,000 visitors annually. Towery Publishing-SpeedSource Race Team, Pompano Beach, Fla., seeks sponsors for the International Motor Sports Association Endurance Championship's 10-race series in the U.S. and Canada, from February through October. Pitting two Turbo Mazda RX7s against BMWs, Pontiac Formula Firebirds and Mustang Cobras, the team races on tracks and streets in major cities. Historic Long Grove, Ill., a themed shopping district outside Chicago, is beckoning sponsors for its major festivals and events.
