Travel & Leisure Golf this month launches a new series of events called "Good Life Weekends," bringing affluent golfers together at high-end resorts for golf clinics, cuisine and other diversions, backed by sponsors. The first event takes place in Palm Beach, Fla.; the next are in Puerto Rico in June and Hawaii in September. Sponsors include Brandy de Jerez, FootJoy, General Cigar Co.'s Macanudo, Rums of Puerto Rico, Sun Mountain Sports, Sundsvall vodka, Taylor Made and UDV-North America's Famous Grouse scotch.

Mervyn's California hosts its first-ever "Beach Bash '99" sports and music festival in Hermosa Beach, Calif., June 10-13. The event combines men's and women's beach volleyball with skateboarding, bicycle stunt riding, and in-line skating demonstrations and competitions. "Beach Bash '99," including tournament competition for the Association of Volleyball Professionals and the Women's Pro Beach Open, also offers on-site activity and product sampling from sponsors Bikini magazine, Dr Pepper/Seven Up's Sunkist, Hawthorne Savings, John Paul Mitchell Hair Systems, Vans and Wilson Sporting Goods. Mervyn's California will promote "Beach Bash '99" merchandise inside its stores starting next month.

Architectural Digest will be the exclusive corporate sponsor of "Wright Plus," a historic tour event for home design connoisseurs held in conjunction with the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio Foundation on May 15 in the Chicago area. The tour will visit 10 of the most famous area homes designed by Mr. Wright. More than 2,500 consumers paying $100 are expected to attend; co-sponsors include American Honda Motor Co.'s Acura, timepiece marketer Bulova, Fireman's Fund insurance and cabinet marketer Plain & Fancy, each offering premiums to attendees.

Fuji Photo Film USA has linked again with stunt pilot Ian Groom for the 1999 air show season, with Mr. Groom on deck to fly a high-performance airplane decorated with the Fujifilm logo at 17 events across the U.S. through November. A photo contest backs the sponsorship, in which air show attendees are invited to submit photos of airplanes, people or action at air shows where Fujifilm participates. The winning entry from each air show will receive a camera and film, and the opportunity to compete for the grand prize, an expenses-paid Marriott Offshore Resorts vacation.

Marie Claire this month teamed with Bloomingdale's to open the magazine's first-ever in-store boutique, called Only at Bloomingdale's-Marie Claire Recommends. The shop will be open through May displaying selected apparel and beauty-care
