Sports site to open on Web

SportsLine USA on Thursday will open a sports-related site on the World Wide Web. The site will feature scores, statistics, game previews, standings and "Live Baseball," a real-time update of in-progress baseball games, said company President Michael Levy. Joe Namath is spokesman for SportsLine, which will compete head-on with ESPN's new Web service, ESPNET SportsZone. SportsLine will charge users a subscription fee of under $10 a month.

John Motavalli, editor of Inside Media, is leaving effective June 9 to join MCI's Information Services Co., New York, as an editor involved in creating and publishing Web sites. In his new post he will be reporting to Scott Kurnit, president of the MCI unit.
