The U.S. State Department launched its first ads overseas to coincide with Ramadan. "Mini documentaries" that depict Muslim life in the U.S.-created by Interpublic Group of Cos.' McCann-Erickson Worldwide, New York-are part of a $15 million effort. Ads will run in countries including Indonesia, Malaysia and Pakistan and in pan-Arab media.
