Starcom gets $38.8 Million of Spain's treasury

Published on .

Spain's treasury, part of the economy and finance ministry, has reassigned its media business to Bcom3 Group-owned Starcom Media Estrategia. The budget has swelled to $38.8 million this year.

The appointment for Spain's leading public advertising account followed a six-way pitch including Aegis Group's Carat, Tempus Group-owned CIA Spain, Havas Advertising's Media Planning, Publicis Groupe-owned Optimedia and Red De Medios.

Starcom has held the Treasury business since 1995, except for one year (1997) when the business went to Equimedia. The business will be split mainly into information on public debt and the Euro currency.

Omnicom Group's TBWA Worldwide won the Treasury's Euro currency creative account last week.
