Starmedia buys Brazilian search engine "Cade?"

Published on .

RIO DE JANEIRO--Soon after buying Brazilian Web site Zeek, Starmedia has bought Cade?, the biggest search engine in the country. Observers say it's probably the biggest Web business transaction that the country has ever seen. No figures were disclosed, however. Indio Brasileiro Guerra Neto, head of StarMedia in Brazil, says the company has bought 100% of Cade?, and that all executives will remain in their posts. Cade? is expected to remain an independent product, but will have the technological, marketing and financial support of Starmedia.
