Starmedia chief in Brazil promoted to senior role in U.S.

SAO PAULO--Starmedia Network, a leading Spanish-and-Portuguese language Internet access provider and Web portal company, has promoted Indio Brasileiro Guerra Neto, its managing director in Brazil, to VP-business-to-business in the U.S.

Based in New York, Mr. Neto will be responsible for creating new opportunities on the Internet to develop services for companies.

Before joining Starmedia in March 1998, Mr. Neto worked at several media groups and at Universo Online, Starmedia's competitor. He is also the president of the local Interactive Media Association.

The company has not announced his replacement in Brazil.
