The loss of one of StarMedia's top sales executives follows the company's announcement Thursday that staff will be cut by 25% and revenue projections lowered. First quarter revenue rose to $16 million, down from $20.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2000, and losses were $31.2 million in the quarter.
