Start-up Sandpiper raises $6.6 million

Sandpiper Networks, a start-up company based in Westlake Village, Calif., said it has raised $6.6 million to finalize development of its "adaptive content" distribution service. The Sandpiper service, which is now in beta tests at several Web sites including those in entertainment, news and high tech, lets Web publishers deliver content faster by adapting to network traffic conditions.
